This week, in honor of Fox 2 News investigative reporter Scott Lewis, the smart-asses here at the Abandoned Structure Squad, in a fit of whimsy, have decided to temporarily re-christen ourselves the Corrupted Structure Squad. You’ll notice the pictured home isn’t the kind of dilapidated wreck typically featured in this space. Instead, according to Lewis’s report, it’s one of the homes included in some questionable deals involving Henry Hagood, former director of development activities for the city’s Planning & Development Department. We say former because Hagood resigned within days of Lewis’s report, which alleged that the house shown here — located at 4462 33rd St. on the city’s West Side — was appraised for $6,770 but sold for $518. Two other properties identified by Lewis were even better bargains. One was appraised at $18,900 but sold for just $500. Dalton Brown, identified in the report as both an ex-con and a pal of Hagood’s, is said to have brokered these deals. Police are investigating.
