Thousands show solidarity with Palestine at Dearborn rally

On Saturday, thousands of people rallied in Dearborn to call for the end of Israel’s decades-long occupation of Palestine, which the United Nations has declared a violation of international law. Such rallies occurred all over the world as Israel’s military prepares to invade the Gaza Strip in retaliation against last week’s attack by the Palestinian group Hamas, in which 1,400 Israelis were killed. Attendees chanted slogans like “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” and “Not another nickel, not another dime, no more money for Israel’s crimes.” Dearborn is home to one of the biggest populations of Palestinian Americans in the U.S., in addition to having the largest Muslim population per capita in the nation.
