Simple yet delicious, French fries are one of the most popular side dishes, perfect for complementing a burger (or really just about any other entrée if we’re being honest). We love them all — curly fries, shoestring, waffle-cut, sweet potato, and many others that can be plain, seasoned, or loaded with numerous toppings. The second Friday of July is even celebrated as National French Fry Day.

Regardless of your preference, these 20 Detroit-area eateries offer some of the best French fries around.

Sliders are the name of the game at Green Dot Stables, but their shoestring fries pair amazingly with this spot’s signature sliders. The restaurant won Best Poutine in the Metro Times Best of Detroit reader’s poll multiple times. Plus, they’ve got great truffle fries too, and all options are affordable.

The “Disco Fries” are topped with Ellsworth cheese curds, whole grain mustard gravy, chili flakes, and scallions.
