Canada is being ravaged by wildfires due to record heat and droughts, and it's affecting not only our neighbors to the north but a large part of the East Coast — and the trouble goes as far west as metro Detroit.

Just this morning, several outlets reported that Detroit had among the worst air quality in the world — preceded only by New York City and Delhi, India. Currently, Detroit is sitting at No. 23 on the World Air Quality Index — making it unhealthy for sensitive groups to be outside.

When air quality is bad, residents should try to stay indoors. If you need to be outside, take regular breaks. Wearing an N95 mask can also help; other forms of mask will not protect you from pollutants.

The world is watching in horror as the wildfires rage on, and Detroit offered plenty of reactions to the crisis — ranging from jokes to checking in on their neighbors to some downright sweet moments of reflection.
