Meet the 'Real House Reps of Detroit' on March 5

State Rep. Leslie Love (D-Detroit) recently announced she will host a weekly town hall series next month. The "March 6 o'clock Town Hall Series" begins Monday, March 5 and will cover "Women's Voices in the Political Process."

A promotional mailer for the March 5 town hall describes it as a chance for constituents to "join the conversation with Detroit legislators discussing issues for our perspective."

The mailer also features six Detroit legislators posed a la Real Housewives, dubbing themselves the 'Real House Reps of Detroit.'

Several women of the Detroit House Delegation, where eight out of 10 members are women, will appear as guests on a panel.

Rep. Love represents Michigan's 10th district, which encompasses parts of northwest Detroit and Redford Township.

“Women’s issues have moved to the forefront in the past year, yet women of color are still a minority in the political landscape,” Love said in the mailer. “Women of color, in particular, those from urban areas, have a unique perspective on policy and what it means to serve.”

The series will take place every Monday in March at Greater Grace Temple from 6-7:30pm. Future topics include Foreclosure Prevention (March 12), Medicare and Medicaid (March 19), and Fitness, Self Defense, and Mental Health (March 26).
