'Dillatroit' returns to pay tribute to local hip-hop icon J Dilla this weekend

Feb. 10 marks a sad day in hip-hop history — it's the death anniversary of legendary producer James Dewitt Yancey (aka J Dilla). He lost his battle with a blood disease on that day in 2006.

While there are several events throughout the weekend that set out to celebrate J Dilla's influential contributions to hip-hop and music at large,
The third annual Dillatroit will return to honor the late artist with a stacked lineup of friends and contemporaries at The Dime Underground.

Jay Electronica, Obie Trice, Phat Kat, Guilty Simpson, and Willie The Kid are among the few featured artists set to pay tribute to the Detroit legend. Special guests are also on deck to perform.

Tickets for the event can be purchased by visiting the event's official website here or by visiting Proud Detroiter, Melodies & Memories, Peoples Records, or Dilla's Delights.

The Third annual Dillatroit celebration will take place at The Dime Underground on Sunday, Feb. 11; 1265 Griswold St., Detroit; 313-223-1600; dime-detroit.com; Tickets start at $18, and $50 for VIP.
