Frida Kahlo watched the 1932 total solar eclipse in Detroit

While everyone is celebrating the total solar eclipse today, we can't believe that that legendary artist Frida Kahlo watched the 1932 eclipse at the Detroit Institute of Arts with fellow artist Diego Rivera and others.

The Detroit Institute of Arts tweeted out this historic (and dare we say iconic) photo today in celebration of the eclipse.

The solar eclipse happened the same year that Kahlo and Rivera spent time in Detroit, and it is often said that it was a turning point for both artists' careers. The DIA even had a special exhibit devoted to both of the artists in 2015.
