The Flavor of Detroit contest called on locals to submit their thoughts on a taste that would best embody the Motor City.
Hudsonville's Rachel Hamden said the contest has garnered over 2,400 entries so far and they haven't all been benign and demure.
"People have been very creative," she says. "We got one suggestion for a coney dog flavor."
While she could not reveal much about the entries the company has so far received, she did say that there have been some standout themes among the many submissions. One thing she can say for sure is that people have been excited about the contest.
The contest is open until Friday, May 26 and entries can be submitted here.
The winner will receive $500 and a year's worth of free Hudsonville Ice Cream.
Hamden says the flavor will likely be announced during the first or second week of June and the ice cream will roll out this fall.
