Now, in celebration of three decades in Detroit, Inner State Gallery, 1XRun, and the people behind the art project are throwing a monthlong party with community-oriented activities, and it comes just as the Detroit Free Press is reporting Guyton’s intention to gradually dismantle the installation as it stands today. The block party will feature barbecue, live art painting, tarot card readings, live DJs, lawn games, and a 1XRun pop-up boutique. The evening’s activities will culminate with a screening of Come Unto Me, a documentary about the project itself.
Saturday, 8/20; Runs from 5-10 p.m.; 3600 Heidelberg St., Detroit; heidelberg.org; 1xrun.com; free.
