This week's Horoscopes are coming out under the light of an Aries Moon. Redoubled by the fire of the Sun in Leo, and amped up by the power of the Lughnassah Crossquarter filling the matrix with the kind of energy that only shines down on us during the yearly Gathering of the Clans, for the next two weeks, it's our job to whoop-it-up. To everything there is a season, and since the dawn of time, the early part of the month of August is when life instructs us to celebrate the fact that we have been blessed with the opportunity to hold it in our hearts and shine with all the light and love that it contains.
If we have forgotten how these things go, the remnants of the August celebrations live on in rituals like 'The County Fair'. In some places, the Circus still comes to town to remind us that it's time to celebrate. The "Bikers" of the world are still tuned in to something fundamental; their annual gathering at Sturgis is always held around the first week of August — and the Native people all over the United States are gearing up for the yearly Sundance. With our minds pressed too much onto things that have absolutely nothing to do with what life is really about, it would behoove all of us to stop, and unplug long enough to rejoice in the fact that we are alive.
From an astrological perspective this will be easier for us than usual; a conjunction between Venus and Jupiter is bringing out the self-indulgent, "let's blow everything off and go for it" side of things. When these two planets come together they tell us to go ahead and have some cake; you're feeling lucky, keep gambling; it's OK to buy the Mercedes, and yes of course, you need a vacation - spend the money on that ticket to Monaco. The fact that the conjunction is taking place in the sign Leo, the sign that governs fun and games, adds more fuel to the thought that we'll want to play things up in a big way.
Interestingly, during the time that this conjunction is active, Saturn, the uptight, miserly, 'Just-Say-No' planet, will be forming a hard square to it. Loosely translated, this means that we will be going off the deep end and feeling guilty about it! If at all possible, do your best to let the Joy flow; allow it to have sway over the need to keep anything in check — after all — letting it rip has its place in the scheme of things too, and this is no time to keep it at bay.
There is more to all of this than meets the eye. Venus is in her retrograde mode and when she's moving backwards she reminds us to put the focus where it counts. Joy and excess don't always coincide. Where you find your happiness could very well be sitting in the front seat of a $200,000 Mercedes, on your way to Cannes — but you could just as easily find it right before dawn, in the middle of nowhere, watching the sunrise from the back of your van. Where we find Joy, and how we bring it into the world is the key to everything right now. Keep that in mind as you enjoy this week's 'scopes.
ARIES (March 21 – April 20): Keep thinking things through until you get clear about how this is going to work. Once you get that settled you can relax and bring your heart to the equation. What's about to happen has less to do with details than it does with the fire that gets lit whenever you're 100% there for things. all of this hinges on that. Various forms of stress will assail you until the next Full Moon. Between now and then you need to forget about everything but staying centered in a place that allows you to function at your best. Let your fears rest. They keep you down and they have no place here.
TAURUS (April 21 – May 20): You have been more than patient with people and things that have tested you to the max. It's hard to know why your curren st affairs have taken so long to unravel. In the length of time that you've been going back and forth you've learned a lot about yourself, and even more about others. Within a month's time you will come to terms with how you're going to handle this. There is more that is about to come to light. When all the facts are in you will see that you may have put your faith in things that don't come with enough clout to make it worth it for you to stay here.
GEMINI (May 21 – June 20): You've got so much going for you. It would be great if you could pad it with a little more depth. You guys are so good at having it all, it's easy for you to lose sight of the fact that there's more to life than what's happening on the surface. As far as your work is concerned; give it time. You can't micromanage things into manifestation. No amount of control that you think you can exercise is going to make you or break you - especially now that we're living in a time when all things are born out of the amount of love that goes into whatever we do to set the world on fire.
CANCER (June 21 – July 20): Too many people and things have gone under the bridge for you to be dwelling on anything but what's in front of you now. The slate is clear and you're starting out fresh. Some of you are totally certain about where to direct your energy and will be on a roll for the next 3 months. Your plans will pass or fail depending on their relevance. Those of you who have no clue what lies up on the road ahead, or what form things will take, never fear. This is one of those times when you don't need to have a plan. Just keep paying attention and trust your gut to show you the way.
LEO (July 21 – August 20): The freedom factor is a lot more expansive than it's been in a while. One thing leads to another. Now that you're free and clear, the whole idea of 'going places' is huge. This is about more than traveling around, and getting out and about; it has to do with finally being free to move in ways that bring more love and opportunities for creativity into your life. Fun is definitely part of this. There are bound to be celebrations that will open the space for you to bump into people you haven't seen in a dog's age and who show up to surprise you with a chance to try something new.
VIRGO (August 21 – September 20): This situation feels totally new, and all too familiar at the same time; it's like you've been here before but you lost the map. At times like this there's nothing to do but play it by heart. Taking that route is harder for you than where you end up when logic prevails; but this defies logic. Perhaps something is showing you that your inner guidance is the only reliable thing. Trust it. If you can figure out how to let go and let God you will wind up exactly where you need to be.
LIBRA (September 21 – October 20): You have every reason to expect things to work out. After a long period of going back and forth between the bank and the poor house you have finally learned how to keep things balanced enough to afford what's happening right now. It's not as if all your ducks are in a row but you are free of enough BS to head out on your own. Changes in the larger forces that run the world around you are having an indirect impact on the timing of things; have respect for those influences. I see you being on your feet and ready for anything by the time the seasons change.
SCORPIO (October 21 – November 20): Power intrigues you. Anything we associate with power; money, sex, position, fame, possessions, property; all of these things attract and fascinate you. The power of Spirit also attracts you. Right now, the interest in spiritual things is intensified by loss and recent stirrings that remind you of the story of the rich man, the camel, and the eye of the needle. You are here to balance the dark and the light. No matter where you're coming from, it's always a question of seeing holding space for the spiritual piece and playing both ends to the middle better than anyone.
SAGITTARIUS (November 21 – December 20): You have control issues that are hard to spot because you come across as an easy going type who wouldn't dream of imposing your Will on anyone. This routine works beautifully in situations where others haven't been around the barn enough times to see it as manipulative. If anything, right now you need to watch the tendency to take advantage of people by hooking them into being beholden to you. Notice the extent to which you use generous acts as a lure. Whatever you decide to give, and whatever you share of yourself, has to be given with no strings attached.
CAPRICORN (December 21 - January 20): As things come to a climax, you don't know if you're coming or going. With this much turmoil. it's for sure that a lot of adjustments are being made. Others are not on the same bandwidth. Either that or they're not there at all. You've had more than your share of pressure and are just about ready to pop - but you won't, because, that's not the way you're made. I can't tell you what to do, but if I were in your shoes I could only handle it by taking one thing at a time and making sure that my head is on straight enough to see more about other people's BS than I do of my own.
AQUARIUS (January 21 – February 20): The things that give you life are changing. Something has shifted and the piece of you that thought it could only stand out by being more important is now looking at coming to terms with keeping it simple. What's right in front of you is taking on a whole new meaning and a lot of things are going to have to change because of this. You've been hauling ass in your own little Salt Mine, not realizing that you never would have wound up in that place if you'd known that it was safe to follow your heart. As the fog lifts, you will begin to break free and find your way home.
PISCES (February 21 – March 20): The way things are going you wish you had given this more thought. You went off half-cocked and are learning to live with it. God bless you and your spontaneous nature, but, you have landed in a situation that will be harder to get out of than it was to get into. One way or another the idea that you are having second thoughts about pretty much everything is making it hard for you to remain in 'the moment'. Your worst fears, along with the idea that the sky is falling, need to be replaced with whatever it takes to remind you that this could just as easily turn out for the best.
