We won't bore you with the usual junk about how spring is FINALLY HERE. But spring is FINALLY HERE, so here are some things to do this weekend to celebrate that glorious fact.
Made in Michigan Show
Celebrate your love for all things made in Michigan, whether its locally grown produce or special arts and crafts, at this outdoor Mt. Clemens fair. You'll be getting a good dose of Vitamin D while you're at it. The show is at Macomb Place in Mt. Clemens and runs Friday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Mutt Strut at Ford Field, Dearborn
Show off your pretty pooch at this animal celebration and pledge drive that helps raise money for homeless animals. There will be a nearly three mile walk as well as some demonstrations, contests, shopping, and other activities. The walk takes place on Saturday, registration starts at 9 a.m. and the walk commences at 11 a.m.
Spring Market at Always Brewing Detroit
Here's your chance to buy from 15 different local makers and crafters while sipping some delicious coffee. Vendors like Esto's Garage, Garden Harvest Soaps, Firebrand Candle Company, Funky Junk and Juju, Trish's Garage, Curlitude, Nascent Whimsy, True Indulgence, Motor City Popcorn, The Drama Queen, Eclectic Kitch, 313 Detroit Cakes, Conversation Pieces will all be in attendance.
Glass Action and Mended May Open House
Looking for something for Mom for Mother's Day? Think about checking out Glass Action and Mended's shared retail space. Since the two companies don't open the shop for regular business hours, this is a special chance to check out the stain glass wares from Glass Action and the upcycled vintage creations of Mended. The shop is open Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Spring Into Belle Isle Gala
You'll need a little extra dough for this one. The event benefits the Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle and tickets are between $200 and $350. The swanky affair will include cocktails, a strolling dinner, and entertainment. VIP ticket holders will also get a tour of the Belle Isle Boathouse before the main event takes place inside the museum.
Cycle Into Spring
This 20 mile ride benefits the Connor Creek Greenway on Detroit's east side and is just a fun way to get out and cycle through the city. Tickets are $40 and proceeds will go toward programming and the development of the final four miles of the greenway.
Lake Orion Flower and Art Fair
Pick up garden staples and flowers as well as crafts at the outdoor soiree that takes place in the streets of Lake Orion.
Dearborn Farmers Market Grand Opening
Sure, tons of fresh produce will be available at this grand opening, but there will also be a Pewabic Pottery demonstration, food trucks, wine tastings, and wares from local vendors. The event starts with a ribbon cutting my the mayor at 9 a.m.
