ART VAN STORES RECRUIT MOTOWNERS TO FEED THE HUNGRY

So it's getting to be that season again -- peace, goodwill and even more drunk drivers on the road than usual. Seriously, though, November and December bring more local charity events than can be listed in one blog post -- and one of the season's first is already scheduled to take place tomorrow night, Wednesday, November 11th. Art Van, Michigan's largest furniture retailer, is capping off its 50th Anniversary year with a concert to benefit Gleaners Community Food Bank via the sounds of Motown Records.

The Michigan Legends Charity Concert will feature performances by the Original Vandellas, the Miracles, and the Contours with Joe Billingslea. The event will be hosted by 104.3 WOMC radio's Dick Purtan -- and there will be a raffle for a fully restored 1959 Corvette convertible. The concert starts at 7 p.m. (doors at 6), at the Warren Art Van Store, 6500 E. 14 Mile Road. The store is being turned into a concert hall for the event, and free birthday cake and refreshments will be served to all.

The best part, though, is that 100 percent of the ticket sales will benefit Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan. Attendees are also asked to bring cans of food to donate. The $10 tix can be .be purchased at all 31 Art Van stores as well as at the door of the Warren store. All metro Detroit Art Van stores will be collecting food donations through the end of November.

Dick Purtan joins Art Van all in the name of charity and music...
