There's a line one crosses where retro or revivalism becomes more of an ardent reenactment - just as Detroit-based duo Lt. baD have wormed their way back 30 years to Bronx basketball courts blasting "Planet-Rock(ing)" jams for nimble breakdancers.

...which, in aesthetic (shimmying beats from crude korgs, scratched-up turntablism and enthusiastic yelps of analog synth) and in title, gives an evocative idea of what you can anticipate on their forthcoming album, this month.
Former indie-rockers go incognito behind bushy wigs and even bushier mustaches, flanked with boomboxes, thrift-store attire and, most notably, an impressively keen sensibility for the flashiness and edgy grooves given to them, today, back from that certain stylized era for (insistently extended) dance jams.
Lt. baD are celebrating twice this week: they'll be DJ-ing at the Loving Touch (in Ferndale) with Dave Lawson for the Tuesdays In The Forest dance party series, and then bringing you the full album on Saturday, July 5th, at The New Dodge Lounge.
