Putting the ham in Hamtown

It’s time for the inaugural Hamtramck Food Week

SIDE DISH

Putting the ham in Hamtown — It’s time for the inaugural Hamtramck Food Week, which will feature dishes from select restaurants at fixed prices (in this case, $10), as well as how-to demonstrations, a contest to crown Hamtramck’s very own Top Chef, and even a community potluck to showcase professional amateurs. It all goes down Sept. 23-28.

Parenthetical place — If you can get past the too-clever name of the place, this new joint called (revolver) seems worth a look. Nestled within Hamtramck, the concept restaurant — a table d’hôte (“host’s table” in good ole ’Murican) — features communal seating and four courses, two or three options for each, $35 for everything included. The prix-fixe menu changes each evening, as do the chefs, as they offer up personal specialties to equally satiate the carnivorously, the botanically and the antiglutenously inclined. This restaurant, in its beginning stages at least, opens up as the week ends, with two seatings per night from Thursday to Saturday. Helmed by Detroiters Tunde Wey and Peter Dalinowski, (revolver) is located at 9737 Joseph Campau, Hamtramck.
