On Saturday, February 22, the fourth Detroit By Detroit show will take place at the Magic Stick in Detroit. The action starts at 8 p.m., and cover is $5 ($7 for under 21s).
According to a statement, “In 2011, twelve Detroit bands were given the opportunity to cover twelve other Detroit acts in the inaugural DETROIT by DETROIT showcase. Now in its fourth season, DETROIT by DETROIT returns to take over the Magic Stick, showcasing the terrific talent that's here in Detroit, and proving ? once again ? why our music scene is unlike any other.”
“DETROIT by DETROIT features more bands than you can count on two hands, switching between two stages. It’s a musical thrill ride, with each year bringing new surprises. What started as an “April Fools” show has now become an annual tradition in celebrating Detroit music! So much talent is born in the Detroit area, and this is an exciting way to showcase it.”

“Participating bands were given the opportunity to cover the Detroit artist of their choice, with each act will playing three songs each. Covered acts are ranging from the nationally?acclaimed Grand Funk Railroad and The Supremes, to local favorites like The Hard Lessons and Phantasmagoria. For the third year in a row, proceeds will fund a special scholarship at School of Rock for a future Detroit rock and roll?er– and emceeing this year’s event will be the ladies of Hip in Detroit.”
