The Delta TwinsThe Seasons & the Scars was recorded live at the Hard Rock Café in Detroit, so kudos to the people behind the desk because it sounds great. If anything, it’s a little too clean. Opening track “Big Shoes” sees the band list some of the greats that have played the blues in the past, from Muddy Waters to Little Walter. While they lack the grit and inherent emotion of those guys, the songs are strong. “We’re proud to be from Detroit,” they say on the inner sleeve. “Contrary to negative media coverage, it is a city rich in history, culture, diversity, and spirit. We’re honored to walk in the big shoes left behind by local greats John Lee Hooker, Joe Weaver, Johnnie Bassett, etc.” Amen to that.
