The Left Releases Free EP: Gas Leaks

One of Detroit's most exciting new hip-hop groups just (re)released a free EP to all of their fans and it's definitely worth a listen. The EP is called Gas Leaks and it was meant to be a three-song prequel to Gas Mask, the full length album that members of the Left (Journalist 103, Apollo Brown, and DJ Soko) put out a few weeks ago. Gas Mask got some attention from blogs and various online outlets, but somehow, Gas Leaks went totally unnoticed when they posted it online in early October. During a recent interview with Apollo, he talked about how the crew tried to make sure that every track on the full length album was at or near classic status. That's never a bad approach and when you hear the sharping scratching ability of DJ Soko and terse bars by Journalist 103 on Gas Leaks (which are basically Gas Mask throwaways), you'll be forgiven for asking how in the world these tracks didn't make the album.
