When one clicks on the “art” tab on musician and artist Tim Kerr’s (the Big Boys, Poison 13, Bad Mutha Goose) website they are redirected to a Flickr page titled “examples of the paintings I have done.” There’s something incredibly modest about that header, considering Kerr’s body of work is vibrant in both color and content. From abstractions painted onto skateboard decks, large-scale basketball-themed murals, and portraits of beloved musicians both underground and above it, Kerr’s sophisticated, albeit cartoonish style appears to be without limits. Kerr will host a one-night-only art show where he will show and sell some of his work, much of which has been influenced by Detroit.
An evening of art with Tim Kerr begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 5 at UFO Factory; 2110 Trumbull St., Detroit; ufofactory.com; No cover.
