Though they copped the moody neon color pallet made popular by Bladerunner 2049 as the aesthetic for its eighth studio record Simulation Theory, Muse dabbles in a cyberpunk world that screams more Tron: Legacy pinball rather than a soul-searching replicant. This is par for the course, though, when it comes to the longtime tech-obsessed progressive rock band that has implemented everything from rotating stages, large-scale digital pyramids, and space-age spherical drones in its live shows. Hailed by Q Magazine as having the “greatest show on earth,” this time around, Muse is all about “Mixed Reality” (an enhanced ticket package offers access to virtual reality video games) and lasers. Lots of lasers.
Muse will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 4 at Little Caesars Arena; 2645 Woodward Ave., Detroit; 313-471-7000; 313presents.com; $54.50+.
