Five protests are planned across Michigan on Monday in response to President Trump's "fake" national emergency declaration.

The protests are among more than 250 to take place nationwide to oppose Trump's controversial decision to declare a national emergency for border wall funding.

Four of the five protests are scheduled for noon in Ferndale, Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor and Lansing. A rally in Howell is planned for 5 p.m. Monday.

"Donald Trump has declared a #FakeNationalEmergency – an illegal power grab from an unhinged man to push his racist, dangerous policies," says MoveOn.org, a social justice organization that is organizing some of the rallies. "We're mobilizing rapid-response events on Presidents Day – Monday, 2/18 – against Trump's fake crisis and racist deportation force and to stand with immigrant, Muslim, and Black and brown communities to stop Trump's dangerous and illegal power grab."

On Friday, Trump signed a national emergency order to free up $8 billion to build 234 miles of wall along the border with Mexico. The move is expected to be met with lawsuits challenging the president's ability to use his executive powers for a border wall.
