Michigan is getting its first-ever Commercial Cannabis Convention and Expo, just in time for the election.
The new convention which will be heading to Detroit's Cobo Hall on Tuesday, Oct. 30 and Wednesday, Oct. 31, just days before the state election decides the fate of Michigan's bid to legalize recreational marijuana. Rather than act as a convention for the national cannabis industry, the Commercial Cannabis Convention and Expo looks to foster local business relationships to develop Michigan's (possible) recreational marijuana economy.
Convention director Thomas Tong spoke with The News Herald about the event, saying "This is one of the biggest economic opportunities for the State of Michigan — not too often in our lifetime do we see such a big opportunity that impacts all aspects, from healthcare to manufacturing. It’s quite profound.”
Tong anticipates 1,200 participants from the marijuana community, including investors, state regulatory partners, new and aspiring medical licensees, as well as community activists.
