Let's be real — nothing is scarier than being broke. This might be why the Crofoot has put on the ultimate broke-ass Halloween bash for 11 years. Not only does Creepy Cheapy boast free candy, cheap booze, and contests galore, but it's an opportunity to see your favorite bands — dead or alive — for less cash than a six-pack. This year, 15 local bands will perform legit costumed covers, including Kimball peeforming as Coldplay, Ladyess as Avril Lavigne, and Vazum as frickin' Bauhaus. Lady Gaga, Fleetwood Mac, Bon Jovi circa '86, and Creed will all be resurrected as well. No cash for a costume? No problem. Creepy Cheapy is all about creativity, so ditch the trip to big-box Halloween stores taking up old Toys R' Us real estate and just raid your parent's basement, roommate's closet, or your nearest thrift shop.

Creepy Cheapy XI will take place starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26 at the Crofoot Complex 1 S. Saginaw St., Pontiac; 248-858-9333; thecrofoot.com; Tickets are $10-$15.
