When Jordan Garland spoke with Metro Times in June, he admitted that it was his dream to put a halfpipe on the Detroit Princess riverboat.
After postponing the event’s original date due to an overwhelming response, the wait is over. The “Cruise for Culture” will take passengers down the Detroit River during two different voyages throughout the day, while skateboarders and BMX riders perform on the half-pipe constructed on the Princess’ deck. The cruise will also include an art exhibit featuring more than 10 local visual artists.
Cruise for Culture: Floating Halfpipe Art Show takes place on Sunday, August 5, boarding begins at 11:30 a.m. for the day cruise and 5:30 p.m. for the sunset cruise; 20 Civic Center Dr., Detroit; asdetroitsown.com/cruise; Tickets are $25-$35.
