Last night Jimmy Kimmel Live! aired a skit poking a little bit of fun at Detroit-based luxury goods purveyor Shinola. The game show-style "commercial" had two contestants facing off to win Shinola products by deciphering which one is shit and which one is Shinola.
In case you're unfamiliar with the origins of Shinola's company name, it comes from the phrase, "You don't know shit from Shinola," which originated during World War II. At the time Shinola was an American-made shoe polish brand. The phrase meant you were stupid.
The skit isn't laugh-out-loud funny, but Detroiters just might get a little kick out of it.
