Wondering how to celebrate #313day this year? Yeah, neither were we. But two new shops opening on the social media-driven holiday celebrating all things Detroit have us rethinking our plans.
Everything Detroit, a project that is part retail space, part branding studio, brings a “highly curated” retail storefront to Grandmont/Rosedale Park. Located at 16801 Grand River, the store will feature a wide selection of Detroit-made goods including music, apparel, and accessories.
Owner and City Talk Magazine founder Katrina Brown envisions the shop as a venue for local makers to not only sell their products but also take advantage of an on-site photo studio to enhance their online presence and overall branding efforts. The grand opening celebration will take place on March 13 from noon until 6 p.m.
And over on the east side, another new retailer will celebrate its grand opening on Detroit Day. Featuring the clothing designs of owner Clement “Fame” Brown, as well as other popular brands from around the city, Three Thirteen opened for business in September but saved the celebration for 3/13.
The store is located at 2642 E. Jefferson at Chene, near the newly relocated Bucharest Grill. The grand opening is scheduled to run all day, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., and will feature appearances by author Shaka Senghor, radio personality DJBJ, and Espy Thomas of Naturally Fly Detroit.
Both shops received support from TechTown Detroit’s SWOT City neighborhood development initiative.
