Are you a huge fan of Detroit's historical architecture and art? Then clear your calendars for this Wednesday night — a local group called the Parducci Society is celebrating Italian-American architectural sculpture Corrado Parducci's 115th birthday at the Zenith inside the Fisher Building.
Unfamiliar with Parducci? Chances are you actually know at least a few works of his art. For example, he carved the the Horace Rackham Memorial Fountain at the Detroit Zoo, did work inside the Detroit Masonic Temple, and carved those iconic sentinels on the outside of the Guardian Building. Some of his other work is showcased inside the Detroit Federal Building, the Detroit Historical Museum, the Penobscot, and the Fisher Building, among many others.
The Parducci Society welcomes folks who are both knowledgable and novices when it comes to the sculptor's art. The event will educate its attendees on both Parducci and the society he inspired. The event is from 5:30-8 p.m. at 3011 W. Grand Blvd., Detroit. There will be a toast to Parducci at 7 p.m. sharp. The event is free to attend.
