Last week, Detroit was named a one of four cities that could add a major league soccer team to their professional sports portfolio. Dan Gilbert, Tom Gores, and the Ford family (who own the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Detroit Pistons, and the Detroit Lions, respectively) put forth the bid.
Detroit faces some obstacles in beating out the three other cities: MLS officials have stated they'd like the team to have their own stadium, while Gilbert & Co. have decided that the potential team would be housed at Ford Field.
