Perhaps it was inevitable that the "Detroit vs. Everybody" meme would arrive here.
After seemingly endless riffing and parodies of the slogan of Detroit's favorite local T-shirt — some official, some not so much — we now have "Detroit vs. Gilbertville."
The unofficial parody, which references the "two Detroits" gentrification narrative, was posted to Facebook by user David Goldberg earlier this week. Goldberg says he's selling the shirts for $20, and all profits will go to organizations and institutions like General Baker Institute, Cass Community Commons, the People's Water Board, and the General Baker Scholarship fund for U-M's Semester in Detroit program.
