When not rocking with his band the High Strung, Josh Malerman wrote a horror novel called Bird Boxa release that landed him a two-book, six-figure North American deal with HarperCollins and was optioned for a movie by Universal Studios.

High String fans and horror fans take note: Malerman will make a local appearance with a reading and book signing at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 2 at the Ferndale Area District Library, 222 E Nine Mile Rd., Ferndale, Michigan. Refreshments and a book signing will follow. More information available on Facebook

The release calls the event a "mysterious" reading and signing, saying Malerman is "cooking up something cool for his author visit to FADL. All fans of horror and suspense novels should mark their calendars; especially since Malerman’s first round of book tours resulted in audiences raving over his highly engaging and quirky presentation, often employing ambient music and theatrical sound effects."

The release also notes that "there are still a good number of free copies available for interested readers to acquire before the event."
