A little bit of the Big Easy will call Detroit home this weekend when a popular interactive music installation visits Dabls MBAD African Bead Museum.

Conceptualized and brought to life by New Orleans Airlift (a nonprofit focused on creating large-scale community art, and known best for their world-famous Music Box Village) is Porch Life — the group's first mobile touring installation.

Fresh off of Eaux Claires festival (where members of the National and Bon Iver took to the sonic structure for some exploratory playtime), Porch Life's two-day Detroit residency starts at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 14 when the 22-foot-tall installation will open to the public free of admission until 7 p.m.

Sunday's festivities begin at 6 p.m. with a musical lineup that includes Frank Pahl, Britney Stoney, Harrison Bartlett III, and African percussionist Efe Bes. VNESSWOLFCHILD, 696 Blues Band by James Balijo, and food and tunes provided by DJ 100% Halal Meat later in the evening.

Tickets for Sunday's event are $10 and can be purchased here.
