Teams of builders, inventors, tinkerers, hackers, and other handy types will once again compete against each other as part of Red Bull Creation. The contest returns to Detroit's Recycle Here! facility from Sept. 23-26.

At the beginning of the competition, organizers will pose a problem, which participating teams will try to solve in 72-hours. New this year, the contest will now feature an "open" division where local teams can compete in addition to the "invitation" division, which will pit six national teams against each other. Registration for the open division ends Sept. 16, and is open to anyone from metro Detroit. There's no limit to team members, but participants must be 18 or older.

If you're not so handy yourself but still interested in checking out the event, Saturday, Sept. 26 features a barbecue and party, which will feature the contest's final “show-and-tell” as the winning teams are chosen.
