Last year, Detroit gallery owner George N'Namdi caused a stir with his observations regarding what he perceived to be Detroit's
"psychological gentrification." Tonight, the gallery will kick off a series of panels on the subject, beginning with "Gentrification and the Arts" from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Panelists include writer Marsha Philpot, 5e Gallery partner Piper Carter, artist Kate Daughdrill, and N'Namdi himself.
The next panel is "Gentrification and Business" on March 19 and "Gentrification and Urban Development" following on April 16. All panels are moderated by the
Free Press' Stephen Henderson. More information is available at the N'Namdi Center for Contemporary Art
website.
