Wesley Berry Flowers, a local chain of flower shops that's headquartered in Commerce, plans to dole out 12,000 roses on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which falls on Monday, January 19.
The florist will be giving roses out by the dozen to any adult who visits one of their four locations between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., or until supplies last.
There is a stipulation to getting those free roses, however. Wesley Berry asks that those who grab a free dozen roses only keep one for themselves and pass the remaining flowers out to 11 different people.
"This is an opportunity to become acquainted with new people or to renew old friendships during Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Day," they said in a release.
The roses will be given away at locations in Detroit, West Bloomfield, and Commerce. But only the West Bloomfield location will have a special guest. Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence will be personally handing out flowers at that location.
The four locations, with addresses, are as follows.
Downtown Detroit - 150 W. Congress, inside the Penobscot Building
Northwest Detroit - 15305 Schoolcraft
West Bloomfield 6677 Orchard Lake Road
Commerce - 2985 Haggerty Road
