Back when I was in school, one of my video editing projects was to combine a pre-existing movie trailer with a different soundtrack, to give the trailer a different effect. Mine turned out OK, but I'd knock that project out of the park if I knew what I knew now.
Tyler Wilde and the guys over at Gamesradar.com just turned me on to quite possibly the biggest revelation in movie trailer musicdom: THE INCEPTION THEME GOES WITH EVERY FUCKING TRAILER IN THE UNIVERSE! Doubt it? I invite you to take the Pepsi challenge. We here in the MT offices have successfully married the Inception theme to such movies as Step Brothers, The Spongebob Squarepants Movie, Driving Miss Daisy and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Even TV intros aren't safe, since the Matlock opening also works like a dream. Don't take our word for it though. Try it yourself using the handy YouTube Doubler/Mashup Helper (you'll need to click off the sound in the left window).
And here's where I'd make some sort of Inception joke. But naw. I'll skip it. Hell, South Park did it already.
