Michigan’s Glenlore Trails is kicking off its winter wonderland edition on Friday.

Dubbed “Aurora,” the kid-friendly, illuminated, technologically enhanced nature trail has a host of new features this year, including a revised pathway and “magic wands” that unlock interactive surprises along the trail.

That’s in addition to other touch-sensitive installations, motion-triggered displays, holiday songs and sounds, interactive games, and other amusements. There will even be a Santa’s Mailbox for children to bring their letters for a special delivery to the North Pole.

The one-mile wooded trail takes about an hour to traverse, so dress sensibly.

Glenlore Trails Aurora opens Friday and runs Thursday through Sunday nights starting at dusk through Sunday, Dec. 29.

There will also be special event programming on select nights throughout the winter, including live musical performances. A full schedule is available at GlenloreTrails.com, where tickets can also be purchased.

Glenlore Trails was created by Bluewater Technologies, an audiovisual production company based in the Detroit area. It debuted in 2020 as a way for the company to remain active during the COVID-19 pandemic shutdowns, after losing much of its business from canceled events, including the North American International Auto Show. The attraction has since taken on a life of its own.

Glenlore Trails is located at 3860 Newtown Rd., Commerce Township.
