Detroit Institute of Arts Archives
On the heels of the Detroit Institute of Art's popular
Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo in Detroit exhibition, the museum has invited historian Hayden Herrera — author of the 1983 book
Frida: A Biography of Frida Kahlo — to discuss the famous artist's life and work. The lecture begins at 7 p.m. on April 28 at the Detroit Film Theatre auditorium. The event is free, but
registration is required.
The museum also recently announced new extended hours to accommodate the high demand for the exhibition, and is currently open until 10 p.m. on Thursdays. Additionally, area restaurants have been asked to create special dishes and cocktails to coincide with the exhibit. Learn more about where to find them
here, or read more in our recent cover story,
"A guide to Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo in the kitchen."
