At three bucks a pop, this independent, locally generated film mag is the value of the almost-quarter for obscure movie buffs. It pulls back the satin sheets on cult porn, homemade parodies, festivals, mainstream goods and – in that first-person zine way – expresses the impact of movies on the individual. The fact that it’s coming out of Riverview (where the hell is that?) makes its uneven, swerving sensibilities seem quaint instead of low-quality. Most of the writing folds zinelike rambling into solid observations about movies and sometimes nauseatingly informed, obsessive writing on obscure topics. Black, white and smudged inside, and crunchy, colorful outside, Cashiers Du Cinemart Issue No. 10 offers up articles on Keith Gordon, Ogami Itto, Return of the Planet of the Apes, the film Pets, Chris Gore’s "The 50 Greatest Movies Never Made" and a lot of other stuff.

But if none of these names rings a bell, CDC probably isn’t for you.
