The folks over at Old Soul Vintage are throwing their 7th annual “For The Periods” charity event, a community-organized fundraiser to “aid any and ALL in need of menstrual products.” The evening’s festivities at Ferndale’s Loving Touch feature 15 local vendors, poetry readings, informative speeches, and a lineup of Detroit musical acts. One hundred percent of the proceeds from FTP will benefit numerous organizations, including Corktown Health, I Support the Girls Detroit, IBEW Local 58 - Women’s Committee, and the Fihri Foundation. If you cannot make it to the benefit but still wish to support, you can donate directly to the organizations listed above or visit Old Soul Vintage and drop off menstrual product donations at their shop in Midtown.
Starts at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, at The Loving Touch; 22634 Woodward Ave, Ferndale; ticketweb.com. Admission is $10, or a donation of a physical menstrual product. Pads, liners, tampons, or gently used/new bras are preferred.
