Face the strange with Detroit's inaugural Weird Homes Tour this weekend

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The same can be said of the strange, offbeat, and totally weird homes of the Motor City.

The inaugural Detroit Weird Homes Tour makes its debut by offering a tour to explore eight unique homes throughout the city, with homeowners standing by to show off and share stories about their one-of-a-kind digs as gawkers take in the architectural oddities and wild decor on a self-guided tour. Ten percent of all ticket proceeds benefit the United Community Housing Coalition which works to aid in providing affordable housing within Detroit.

The Weird Homes Detroit Tour runs from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25; Map of homes will be provided upon purchase; 512-308-6215; weirdhomestour.com ; Tickets are $30-$37 or $45 for VIP, children 13 and under are free.
