Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson will rip apart your favorite movies at Detroit's Fox Theatre

The perfect astrophysicist doesn't exist—

Celebrated intellectual and wry clap-back king Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson wants to tell you why science and cinema don't always see eye to eye. Whether it's how the 1998 disaster blockbuster Armageddon gave a false depiction of an astroid's velocity, or policing the historical inaccuracies in movies like Chappaquiddick, Tyson has no problem pointing out glaring falsehoods. And don't forget that one time he called out Titanic's tragically flawed ending, telling the Huffington Post, "You try once. ‘Oh, this is not gonna work. I will just freeze to death in the water,'"No, excuse me. No!”

While it may seem like the StarTalk host and director of the Hayden Planetarium is a total "Buzzkill Lightyear" when it comes to cinema, his "An Astrophysicist Goes to the Movies" tour finds the doc pointing out the parallels between film and science while, of course, dragging sloppy script research (we're looking at you, Superman.)

Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson will bring his big ol' brain to the Fox Theatre on Monday, May 20 at 7:30 p.m.
