Artists, grab your paintbrushes, cameras, instruments, etc., and mosey on over to Dearborn's City Hall. Since they're moving their governmental happenings to a new location, the city partnered with Artspace to renovate the three-building lot into affordable housing units.

Creating 53 living, work and office units, the project cost an estimated $16.5 million, according to the website. While the renovation cost is pretty high, the cost to rent is said to be affordable, ranging from $580-$1000, depending on the size of the unit. Rent includes heating, cooling, water, sewer and trash, but does not include cooking or electricity.

The building is open to anyone qualified for affordable housing, however, Artspace prefers "applicants who participate in and are committed to the arts." They even have an Artist Selection Committee who will select and determine if an applicant is eligible to live in the lofts based on their level of commitment and participation in the arts.

An information session on how to apply as well as a tour of the lofts will be held Wednesday, 2/24, at 9 a.m., in the Annex Building Community Room at 4500 Maple St. in Dearborn.
