The exhibit, which amasses the largest collection of Leo Moss dolls in the country, is a large-scale attempt to help young girls see themselves in dolls.
"We did this exhibition to help young girls see the beauty in themselves and see the beauty in who they are," Juanita Moore, president and CEO of the Wright Museum said in an interview with WDIV.
The doll is free with the price of admission, a mere $5. That cost also covers entry into the exhibit as well as a ticket to the screening of An American Girl Story – Melody 1963: Love Has to Win. There will also be mini-workshops open to children who receive dolls.
The giveaway will take place between 12:30 and 3 p.m. and an additional $5 donations will make doll clothing and accessories available.
The dolls, which sell for $80, are a line that celebrates diversity by exclusively offering 18-inch multicultural dolls.
