Check out this adorable craft fair in Wyandotte this weekend

Downriver isn't exactly known for its indie craft fairs. Aside from Wyandotte's annual Street Art Fair, you might not equate the area with any sort of art at all. Of course, there are some Downriver collectives that do a phenomenal job of supporting the arts, the Downriver Council for the Arts (DCA) being just one of them.

The council, located inside Wyandotte's historic Masonic Temple near downtown, often holds art shows and even has an art-focused summer camp program for kids. 

Last year the DCA started holding Downriver's only indie craft fair. The fair takes over three stories of the over 100-year-old building, featuring local artisans like Better Life Bags, Eastworks Detroit, and Re-Zip It. There will also be over 50 other makers, crafters, artists, and DIY'ers at the fair and items will range from vintage and handmade clothing and jewelry to Michigan-themed art and photography and more. 
Aside from vendors, sweet treats will also be available as well as face painting for kids, and henna tattoo art to boot. 

The event runs Friday, March 13 from 6-9 p.m. and Saturday, March 14 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Proceeds from the $2 admission cost will benefit the DCA's summer art camps and programs. The DCA is located at 81 Chestnut St., Wyandotte. For more info call 734-720-0671 or check out downriverarts.org.
