Nearly 8,000 miles away from Detroit is a vibrant, rich, and deeply influential culture. This year, the Detroit Institute of Arts will dedicate a weekend of programming to educate, demonstrate, and experience Indian culture through dance, music, cuisine, and Bollywood. “Celebrate India” will offer yoga in the Rivera Court, Henna, a Rangoli ritual demonstration, as well as folk dance performances, a screening of the Bollywood classic Pyaasa, poetry, and architectural lectures. The Indian Ambassador to the United States, his Excellency Harsh Vardhan Shringla, will also serve as the event’s guest of honor and keynote speaker. For a full schedule, visit here.
