Baphomet's a big hit in Detroit. The Satanic Temple erected a statue in honor of the Sabbatic Goat just this past summer. And the costume was a big hit at Theatre Bizarre last year. So when our inbox lit up with the words, "Baphomet: The Musikal" we were immediately intrigued.

It appears the whole thing is the brainchild of former Detroit Free Press reporter and Real Detroit Weekly editor BJ Hammerstein, Tangent Gallery's Joe Van Bael, and Torch with a Twist's Grace Detroit. The evening, taking place the night after Christmas, is a "holiday variety show inspired by Santa, Satan, and Saturn."

Hammerstein, who will be hosting the event, further describes the night as, "comedy, burlesque, singing, snakes, Satanic Temple, fire ... politics."

While details are still forthcoming, as of now we know performances and vendors will include Sadie Sparkles, Zak and What Army, Stein Van Bael, Armageddon Beach Party, Konrad Lee, Blood & Honey, Heather R. Kyles, Good Do Up, Jimmy Mercury, the Detroit chapter of the Satanic Temple, and more. There will be live improvisational performances and visual art.

Doors open at 7 p.m., show starts at 9 p.m. The whole thing takes place at the Tangent Gallery/Hastings Street Ballroom which is located at 715 E. Milwaukee St., Detroit. It's 21 and older only and entry is $10.
