Does Jack Lessenberry have a problem with female pols?

    The real squeal

I used to think that Jack Lessenberry had a grudge against Jennifer Granholm. He always dismissively referred to her as "the haircut." I can't recall him ever using such terminology against any male politician.

After reading his latest Metro Times column item "Democrats: In need of a facelift," (Jan. 2), however, I can't help but think that he has a problem with the female gender. In it he states that the possible future Democratic candidate for governor, Gretchen Whitmer, is at a disadvantage because she is "even more" "attractive and charismatic" than "the famously ineffective Jennifer Granholm."

Has Lessenberry ever found any male politician's personal appearance to be an issue, or is this only something that he takes into consideration with female politicians? Does he ever judge female politicians solely on their track record?

Since he has become governor, Rick Snyder has raised my taxes, cut funding for my son's education, given huge tax breaks to corporations, limited a woman's right to choose and taken away both democratic principles and collective-bargaining rights from my fellow Michiganders. It's hard for me to imagine a worse governor. However, I don't recall Lessenberry ever attacking him as much as he did, and still does, Jennifer Granholm. It seems to me that the only way he ever will is if Rick Snyder undergoes a sex-change operation.
