Brian Eno - Lux (Warp Records)

You can’t dance to it. In fact, you should sit.

Following the path of his pioneering ambient recordings from the late '70s and early '80s, the acclaimed producer and self-described "nonmusician" presents a dreamy suite that should further his stature as a master of both space and atmosphere. Its four 20-minute-long pieces stand in sharp contrast to Eno's more bombastic recent work with Coldplay and David Byrne, and offer (given your level of patience) a welcome respite from the noise of the holiday season. This is situational music, and frankly there are few appropriate situations for 20-minute tempoless soundscapes. But if you can manage to find a quiet moment with a really good set of headphones, Lux offers welcome relief.
