'Feet on the Street' offers look at Eastern Market
Published: March 25, 2014
It’s hard to believe that there are still folks who haven’t experienced a shopper-packed Saturday in Detroit’s Eastern Market, but any holdouts reading this should know there’s never been a better time. Heck, there so much new stuff and refurbished stuff there, even those who haven’t been there in a decade should take a fresh look. To make it a little easier, consider taking a look-see with Feet on the Street Tours, which promises an interesting morning of “cultural tourism,” in which guests will be treated to a festive atmosphere, comforting food, warming beverages, and even a few glimpses behind the scenes of a market Saturday. This group has been running the tour for 13 years, so they know what’s there, what used to be there, and what’s coming. Also, their tours can fill up early. They’ve posted schedules online, and it should be relatively easy to sign up for the tours later this spring and in the summer. The say it usually goes is this: The tour meets for payment and registration at 9:15 a.m. and they run until noon. Upcoming dates are April 12, May 3, June 14 and more; $29 per person; for more information, call 248-353-8687 or see enjoythed.com.
