This historic Michigan stone house is beautiful inside and out

This Grand Rapids gem is gorgeous all around.

All the stone detail on the front of the house, the turrets, and meticulous gardening in the backyard craft a beautiful outdoor space, but the interior shines, as well. Stunning woodwork is spread throughout — maintaining the original wood put in by lumberman Thomas Friant in 1892. Its current owners moved to Grand Rapids in 1968 and found the house intriguing, having been left empty and neglected, but it was about to be demolished to make room for a medical building. The 1968 owner had an accident and changed his plans, leaving an opening for it to be restored to its current beauty.

We’ll let the house speak for itself — let’'s take a tour.
