Detroiters hold vigil and call for ceasefire in Gaza

Metro Detroiters of different faiths joined together at Hart Plaza on Thursday evening to mourn the innocent lives lost amid Israel’s U.S.-backed military campaign in Gaza, including those of more than 4,000 children. Speakers included U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib, Rabbi Alana Alpert, Imam Mika’il Stewart Saadiq, Pastor Torion Bridges, Jewish activist Jake Ehrlich, and family members of Palestinian civilians who have been killed.

The event was endorsed by the MIMuslim Coalition, JVP DETROIT, Michigan Task Force For Palestine, American Muslims for Palestine, APIA Vote-MI, WWN, CAIR Michigan, Detroit Will Breathe, Women in Black, Detroit Kids Matter, Students for Justice in Palestine, Flint Rising, U-Detroit Mercy SP, NNAAC (ACCESS), Democratic Socialist of America, and others.
